                      Message from the President

Well, this ends the year for me as your president. It has been a good year. We have learned some new techniques and had some interesting speakers. I hope you all continue to be creative and show off your talents.

Please bring drinks and snacks for break, and set up prior to meeting time. If you cannot fulfil this duty, please call someone else to act as your replacement.

Please arrive 30 minutes prior to starting time, welcome the members and guests, and have them sign in collect fines for no nametags and answer any questions.  If you cannot fulfill this duty, please call someone else to act as your replacement.

PLEASE NOTE: There will be a board meeting at 5:30 for BOTH outgoing and new officers BEFORE the general meeting.

 The meeting in December will be Tuesday, December 30th.

NOTE: There are still some vacancies for offices in “Standing Committees” for next year. If you would like to volunteer for any of the following, please let Theresa know – trip planner, retreat planner, or donation quilt for 2010.

Four Corners Guild Minutes

 GENERAL MEETING AGENDA

OPEN MEETING-WELCOME EVERYONE-INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS WITH MEMBERS    

7pm meeting opened by President Barb, welcomed guest and members.

62 total in attendance.          

INTRODUCTION OF GUEST SPEAKER OR PROGRAM: 8PM Patricia Knoechel was introduced as the Program Speaker.

PROGRAM: Patricia spoke about the new book "Victory Quilts" from Eleanor Burnes Quilt in a Day.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The December meeting will be moved to after Christmas, December 30th.

SHOW & TELL: 14 quilts were shown by members.

PUBLICITY: Nothing to report.

LIBRARY: nothing to report.

TRIP PLANNER: No report.

DONATION QUILT: Selling tickets for current quilt. Pam showed top of next quilt

QUILT SHOW: Need help checking in quilts on Oct. 3rd. Quilt show is at Powers through the 29th.

WEB MASTER: I've been moving and putting in a lot of hours at my day job. Thank you for your patience with the changes. Would love to have photos to put on the site. Please also send any links you think the others would enjoy to for the free information page that is to be added to the website.

RETREAT PLANNER: Day retreat is scheduled for Oct. 11th at the Galena Community Center from 9AM-9PM. $7 fee per person. Bring a side dish. Kit available for $15 or you can bring UFO projects to work on.

CHARITY: Children’s Haven will come next month to accept any donation quilts made for them. Need suggestions for new charity or keep the same.

MEMBERSHIP: Nothing to report.

PROGRAM: Next month Lori East will be telling how to appraise a quilt & will appraise the club quilt. November will have a Workshop on November 22nd, the Sat. before the meeting from 1-5 PM, cost for each member is $30. We will have a lecture on the guild meeting night.

PROJECT: Next month Leaf & shadow block of the month, 6 inch squares orange, fat quarters birds.

OLD BUSINESS: Didn't find the quilt stand that's missing.

NEW BUSINESS: Bylaw changes; motion to accept change in bylaws by Debbie Dutch Kelley & Wanda Hole.  

Standing Rules: Workshop policies; Motion not to accept change in rule by Fran & Marion, had discussion about rule, 26 voted against new rule, motion not to accept was passed, new rule not carried.

Retreat policies; motion to pass by Sherry Purcell & Debbie Dutch Kelley, policy passed.

Librarian policies; motion to pass by Betty King & Chadalee Durham; policy passed.

Door Prize Person: will be added as L. to standing rules, motion to pass by Charlotte Duke & Jeannie Wyrick, motion passed.

Budget Report; Had discussion on donation quilt expenses; motion to pass by Amy, Pam & Jeannie, motion was passed.

Voted on Slate of Officers: motion to pass by Debbie Dutch Kelley & Fran McDaniels; slate of officers were passed for the next year.

Door prizes: Sharon Boatwright, Shelly Bardswick, Wanda Hole, & June Hatfield.

Information Regarding CHILDREN'S HAVEN -
If you are making a quilt for Children's Haven, please note the following: Charity Quilt Sizes - No smaller than 40" x 49" and up to 68" x 90". Amount collected for Children's Haven at the October Meeting - $42.78.

Program Notes               

October 28 – Lori East will be telling how she appraises a quilt and also appraising the club quilt.

November 25 – Judy Laquidara, author of ”Nine-Patch Extravaganza” will do a trunk show titled ”Trunk Show”. She will bring and discuss the interesting aspect of quilts which may include borders, sashing and coloring of the blocks. Judy is doing a workshop on Saturday afternoon November 22 – the Topsy Turvey Nine Patch quilt which was shown at another guild meeting.
