                      Message from the President

How time flies!  The holidays are here and the year is almost over.  This is always a busy time for everyone.   Don’t forget to take time for yourself.  A short break (maybe a few minutes sewing) can renew your energy.  See you at the meeting December 18!!

Four Corners Guild Minutes

Meeting opened by Guild President Barb Pipkin

Vendor: Brenda Crampton from Anderson Mo. PRINTS OF PIECE.
Stephanie from Children’s Haven talked about their program for children & families. Children’s Haven is the Charity that Four Corners Guild supported during 2006-2007. They help families in crisis. Twenty one quilts were shown & presented to Stephanie for the Children’s Haven.
Guild minutes for October were approved as written.
Guild treasurer report was approved as published.
Committee Reports:
Carol Reed Newsletter: Carol will be trying to get the Newsletter out earlier. She had several e-mails that were returned last month. Please let Carol know if you didn’t receive the Newsletter. Must pay dues this month or will no longer receive newsletters.
Membership: Will be updating the member list, will be near the greeter table to update memberships, also looking for 2 volunteers to help.
Donation Quilt: Fran received the quilt chances & money for final drawing tonight. Most tickets sold this month at $30 were Sue.
Projects: December block of the month, Red/green/white. 6” blocks in Blue. Fat quarters snow/winter prints. Ugly fabric challenge.
Donation Quilt for 2008: They are getting ready to put the quilt together. Turn in any blocks done or not done ASAP.
Charity: Voted on 4 different charities & Children’s Haven was chosen for the Charity of 2007-2008.
Program: December program bring a White Elephant gift from your sewing room, wrap & place your name inside. Also will exchange Christmas tree blocks. Need off white or beige block for background 16 ½” by 16 ½”, make any tree of choice & decorate/embellish.
Fons & Porter’s Magazine subscriptions available for $20, $5 goes back to the Guild. If interested let Sherry Purcell know.
Door Prizes for the night: 12 door prizes were given out. The grand door prize from Vendor Brenda Crampton was given to Rosella Barwick.
New Business:
The next guild meeting/Christmas party will be on December 18th. Will have snacks/Holiday food. The refreshment volunteers will need to bring the drinks.
A motion was brought forward to move more money for Programs from the current $2000 to $4500. Motioned by Chadalee & Jeanne. Vote was passed by members.
It was brought before the members to move some of the guild meetings to the 3rd Tuesday of the month if needed in order to share speakers with other Quilt Guilds. Members were in favor of this. Will look at maybe changing the meetings to the 3rd Tuesday of every month next year if this works out well to share speakers.
It was suggested that we donate money to the Powers Museum for displaying the quilts for the Quilt Show & for helping with the Quilt Show. It was motioned to donate $100 to the Museum by Amy  & Pam, the vote was passed for the donation.
After the 1st of the year we will be changing our snack time to Social time between 6:30PM to 7:00PM instead of breaking between the meeting & program.
Show & Tell: Fleece hats for daughter with cancer, Red/black star quilt, flip & sew table runners, blocks from 1999 UFO signature blocks, brown bag projects, childs quilt, table runners & table topper, appliqué quilt from a quilt class, turning twenty, purple stars, windmill pattern type quilt.

8:25 Quilt Donation Drawing: Winner was Jerry Hamm from Springfield MO.
Program/Workshops:
Donna demonstrated making Coasters/tree ornaments/stem ware holders.
Brenda demonstrated how to make triangles.
Amy demonstrated on rotary cutting a new technique.
Donna Underwood won 10 Blocks of the Month.
